Wyndham launches mobile tipping solution for US and Canadian franchisees

PARSIPPANY, NJ – Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest hotel franchise company with approximately 9,000 hotels in more than 95 countries, today unveiled a new portfolio-wide mobile tipping solution for its U.S. and Canadian franchisees , making it one of the first major hotel companies. do this.

Developed and powered by Béné, a leader in cashless tipping, the platform makes it easy for guests to digitally tip hotel team members via their preferred mobile device and is now available for adoption by Wyndham franchisees from all brands. It comes as a growing number of consumers are embracing and showing a preference for digital payments, which 82% of Americans are now using, according to consulting firm McKinsey.

“The pandemic has dramatically accelerated customer demand for digital payment solutions and this trend will only continue in the years to come,” said Scott Strickland, Chief Information Officer, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “Having already empowered our franchisees to accept contactless digital payment for stays at their hotels, the logical next step was to find a solution that would allow guests to recognize housekeepers, waiters and other members of the frontline team the same way. This platform does just that and virtually at no cost to franchisees.”

Once a hotel has signed up and is installed on the Béné platform, customers can easily recognize their chosen team member by scanning a QR code during their stay and choosing the amount they wish to give. QR codes are unique to each team member and tips are deposited daily either directly to their individual bank accounts or to the property account to be distributed with regular payroll. The platform accepts multiple payment methods, including credit cards, Apple Pay® and Google Paytm. Like other digital payment services, platform costs are covered by customers through small transaction fees, leaving franchisees responsible only for basic marketing materials, which they can either order directly from of Béné at a minimal cost, or create themselves.

Added Strickland, “The beauty of this solution is its simplicity and the ease with which our franchisees enable their customers to go from cash to digital. There are no apps to download and no software to install. It is completely web-based, meaning that as long as customers have a phone and an internet connection, they can tip and show their appreciation.

Wyndham’s push for mobile tipping is part of the company’s broader celebrations supporting International Housekeepers and Environmental Services Week, a global initiative sponsored by the Indoor Environmental Healthcare and Hospitality Association (IHEA). , dedicated to recognizing the efforts of housekeepers and custodial staff. Held annually during the second full week of September, Wyndham management, along with its franchisees, spends the week celebrating housekeepers at hotels around the world, conducting in-person tours while offering a range of rewards and prizes, including millions of Wyndham rewards. points.

“At the heart of every great hotel is an excellent team of housekeepers,” said Scott LePage, president, Americas, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “This week is about celebrating them and all they do for customers as well as our industry. As we invite everyone to join us in showing their thanks this week, our biggest The hope is that through initiatives like mobile tipping, we can empower guests by making it easier for them to show their appreciation with every stay, no matter the time of year.”
