Shoals man and Washington woman arrested for drug trafficking in Spencer County
SPENCER COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO / WAWV) – A Martin County man and Daviess County woman were arrested on Saturday on drug charges following an investigation in Spencer County.
Indiana State Police and the Spencer County Sheriff’s Department were conducting a criminal interdiction patrol on Saturday night when they stopped a vehicle driven by Dennis D. Sipes II, 39, of Shoals. Authorities had received reports that he was a habitual traffic offender with a lifetime license suspension.
While traffic stopped, MPs located methamphetamine on Sipes. Further investigation revealed that Sipes may be involved in drug-related activity at this Baymont hotel in Dale.
At the Baymont Hotel, authorities tracked down Kaci M. Newport and his juvenile daughter who were staying with Sipes at the hotel.
Authorities also found that Newport had a bag containing what is believed to be methamphetamine and marijuana. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the drugs also belonged to Sipes.
Sipes and Newport were arrested and transported to Spencer County Jail.
Sipes faces multiple drug possession charges as well as being a regular traffic offender. Newport faces multiple drug possession charges and one dependent negligence charge.
