Mum found dead in duffel bag stabbed dozens of times, medical examiner says

FOREST HILLS, Queens (WPIX) – A mother whose body was found in a sports bag in Queens was stabbed 58 times, a report from the city’s medical examiner revealed Monday.

The body of Orsolya Gaal, a 51-year-old mother of two from Queens, was found not far from her home in a sports bag. A man walking his dog on Saturday morning found the bag and called the police, sources said.

Nexstar’s WPIX has obtained a surveillance video too disturbing to share of a man dragging the gym bag. Police identified a person of interest known to Gaal in the case on Monday afternoon, sources said. No arrests were made.

The suspect allegedly sent a haunting message to Gaal’s husband after his death, according to police sources, accusing Gaal of sending him to prison years ago and threatening to kill the whole family if he called the police.

Sources said they believe Gaal told her youngest son she was going to see a show on Friday night. At some point, a man met her, sources said. This man is believed to have murdered Gaal in his basement.

Investigators believe Gaal knew the killer as there was no sign of forced entry into his home.
