A man in Monroe Township returned home from work Friday night to find two suspects attempting to steal his green 1998 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in his driveway.

The attempted theft took place around 10:15 p.m. Friday in the 5300 block of E. Dunbar Rd., According to a report from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The man told MPs he noticed a suspicious burgundy Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon parked next to the pickup truck. A suspect jumped out of his van and got into the suspect vehicle and fled the scene in an easterly direction on Dunbar. The man attempted to follow the vehicle, but the driver passed a red light at Telegraph Road. and he turned around and called 911. He said the driver of the vehicle was a white man, possibly bald.

The man discovered about $ 200 in damage to the pickup’s ignition, according to the report.

Suspects attempt to break into Consumers Energy property

Two unknown men were frightened by an employee after being spotted breaking into a fenced property owned by Consumers Energy in Temperance on Friday afternoon.

The employee told MPs he saw a suspicious four-door black Saturn parked near a front door and fence around 4:30 p.m. Friday on the property at 7116 Crabb Road. One of the men had crawled under service trucks parked inside the fence and was holding a DeWalt portable saw, according to a report by a deputy. When the employee called the police, the two men left in the vehicle heading south on Crabb. A surveillance camera showed one of the men using a cutting tool to enter the site, according to the report.

Package stolen from apartment complex

A package containing a new surround sound system valued at $ 200 was recently stolen from the Chestnut Hills Apartments in Frenchtown Township.

The owner told MPs he learned from FedEx that the package had been delivered to the resort near N. Monroe Street, but was found missing when the man picked it up.

Catalytic converter removed from vehicle

The 68-year-old owner of a light blue 2011 Ford Fusion that was parked in the Frenchtown Place tower said the vehicle’s catalytic converter was stolen last week.

The cost to replace the part is $ 450. A similar theft occurred on March 17 at the apartment complex for the elderly. MPs assigned to Frenchtown Township have been urged to provide more patrols in the area, authorities said.

Woman arrested for entering vehicles

A 37-year-old woman from Monroe was arrested after she was seen opening vehicles parked in the park and ride near the Baymont Inn and LaPlaisance Road. Viaduct construction site off I-75 in Monroe Township Friday morning.

A man working for Miller Brothers Construction at the site said the woman attempted to open the door of her pickup truck while parked nearby. The woman told MPs that her boyfriend staying at the inn asked him to take the items.

After being assessed and treated at the ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital, she was held in the county jail for theft of a vehicle and outstanding warrants for dangerous drugs and driving while her license was suspended, according to a report from an assistant.

Vehicle damaged by a colleague

Charges of malicious destruction of property are pending against a 21-year-old Toledo man accused of destroying and causing multiple scratches on the paintwork of a white 2015 Buick LaCrosse parked in a store in Temperance on Thursday.

The Temperance owner of the vehicle noticed the damage while working at the company. The cost of the repair is $ 500. MPs and business officials have identified a colleague who was seen on a surveillance camera approaching the car. The suspect later confessed to causing the damage and offered to pay for the repairs.
