Guy Farmer: Black Racism in Chicago
Now, the mayor will only give interviews to “journalists of color,” hoping they ignore the bad news and report the good things she thinks she is doing for the citizens of Chicago. Perhaps journalists of color will ignore the fact that 55 people were gunned down in Chicago last weekend, and 12 of them died, including four teenagers. According to the Chicago Tribune, nearly 1,300 people have been shot dead in that city so far this year with 244 homicides. Gun violence has increased 36% in Chicago and nearly 80% in New York this year.
Of course, any self-respecting journalist, whatever their skin color, should cover this kind of local tragic news, but Lightfoot has overturned this basic journalistic precept, proving that racism is rife in the Rainbow Coalition. in sky.
Although I am an elderly white male, I feel qualified to comment on racism because I have spent my entire adult life defending civil rights and equal rights, from the time I tried (unsuccessfully) to integrate my fraternity at the University of Washington. in Seattle many years ago. Later in the 1960s, I was proud to have been the spokesperson for Governor Grant Sawyer when he desegregated the Nevada casinos.
Chicago Tribune columnist Rex Huppke commented on last weekend’s gun violence epidemic. “Shootings are everywhere and always,” he wrote. “They’re here in Chicago every day (and) they’re in other big cities, and yet America is doing nothing. We’re talking about gun control, or mental health, or people in need. more religion or better schools … and then nothing happens. It’s just talking. “
Lightfoot said she was far too busy to “take on the job of educating white, mostly male members of the news media about the dangers and complexities of implicit bias.” It sounds like a critical race theory, another toxic idea proposed by the far left. The conservative Wall Street Journal ruled that “like the racists in Jim Crow South, the mayor will now judge reporters solely on the color of their skin,” thus violating the wise recommendation of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. to people by content their character rather than the color of their skin.
“Ms. Lightfoot’s explicit use of race as a reason for her discriminatory policy may violate the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment,” the Journal continued. “Led by the political left, including the current US President’s elevation of ‘fairness’ over equal opportunity, America is again dividing by race. It’s hard to imagine a trend more dangerous. ” Amen.
Deadly and shocking gun violence erupts in major cities where ‘awakened’ politicians are cutting police budgets, cities like Chicago, New York, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Seattle and Portland, where veteran police officers resign or retire en masse. As we know, less policing leads to more crime. Duh! There are a few awakened politicians in the Nevada Legislature, but their sweeping proposals for “police reform” are rejected by moderates on both sides, including Carson City MP PK O’Neill, a pro. law enforcement who knows something about police efficiency, just like Sheriff Ken Furlong does.
So I think Lightfoot is a black racist, as are the Black Lives Matter activists who demonize whites and police officers of all known skin colors. Shame on all racists, whatever their color.
