Drug Charges Lead to Grand Jury Indictments | News, Sports, Jobs

The drug charges topped the list of indictments handed down by the Washington County grand jury this week.

Jaclyn Jean Kerns, 41, of 2609 Villa Drive, Parkersburg, was found Feb. 27 at the Washington County Jail with between five and 50 times the amount of methamphetamine.

Anna L. Walker, 45, of 225 Dempsie Ave., Parkersburg, and Tyler Nathaniel Bailey, 41, address unknown, have each been charged with one count of possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a felony third degree and one count of aggravated possession of narcotics, a second degree felony. They were found in May at the Baymont Hotel in Marietta with 15.35 grams of methamphetamine and 6 grams of a compound consisting of fentanyl, para-fluorofentanyl and tramadol.

Other indictments include:

¯ Dustin G. Haas, 31, homeless, was charged with one count of robbery, a second degree felony and one count of petty theft, a first degree misdemeanor. He reportedly robbed Patrick E. Farnsworth in August 2021.

¯ Ricky A. Welsh Jr., 47, of 318 E. Front St., Dover, was charged with one count of breaking and entering, a fifth degree felony; one count of minor theft, a first degree misdemeanor; and one count of criminal damage or endangerment, a second-degree misdemeanor. He allegedly broke into Miller Prosthetics & Orthotics, 2354 Richmiller Lane, Belpre, in October 2020 and stole money.

¯ Matthew G. Schafter, 43, of 445 Dodds Run Road, Marietta, has been charged with one count of possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a fifth degree felony. He was reportedly found in April with the drugs.

¯ Jacob Andrew Johnson, 27, of 4177 E. State Route 60, McConnelsville, was charged with one count of failing to appear as required by recognizance, a fourth degree felony. He was scheduled to appear in Washington County Common Pleas Court on August 1.

¯ Shaun Allen Griffin, 38, homeless, has been charged with one count of possession of a compound related to fentanyl, a fifth degree felony. He was reportedly found with the drugs in March at Harmar and Putnam streets, Marietta.

¯ Jeffrey David Turner, 56, of 195 Poinciana St., Newport, has been charged with one count of aggravated drug possession, a third degree felony.

He was reportedly found with methamphetamine in February near mile post 32 on Ohio 7 in Newport Township.

¯ Tyler J. Wittenbrook, 21, of 128 Harmar St., Marietta, has been charged with one count of receiving stolen property, a fourth degree felony; one count of improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle, a fifth degree felony; and one count of driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug, or a combination thereof – OVI, a first-degree misdemeanor. He allegedly carried a loaded handgun in a motor vehicle while under the influence in April in the 17000 block of Ohio 821.

¯ Christine Virginia Coe, 80, of Vincent, has been charged with one count of assault, a fourth-degree felony, and one count of domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor. She allegedly harmed a member of her family and Ashley Wallace, a peace officer.

Units from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched on June 2 to a report of Coe assaulting a subject with a screwdriver at his residence. Coe had thrown a screwdriver, which caused a visible injury to the victim’s leg.

When the deputies informed Coe that she would be going to jail, she said she would not go to jail, wanting the deputies to shoot her, according to the sheriff’s report. While attempting to grab Coe, she punched and was able to pinch a deputy’s arm, the report notes.

¯ Dalton Matthew Ball, 24, of 6600 McMannis Riggs Road, Beverly, was charged with one count of disobeying a police order or signal, a third degree felony. He reportedly fled from a police officer after receiving a stop signal in July at the 1200 block of Greene Street.

¯ Jessica Lee Carpenter, 46, of 1719 Spring St., Parkersburg, was charged with one count of aggravated drug possession, a third degree felony; one count of minor theft, a first degree misdemeanor; and one count of criminal trespassing, a fourth-degree felony. She was reportedly found at Walmart, 804 Pike St., with methamphetamine after attempting to steal cosmetics and a shower head in January.

¯ Anthony Brian Klintworth III, 33, Trailer Park, Reno, was charged with one count of illegally transporting drugs on the grounds of a specified government facility, a third degree felony; and one count of aggravated drug possession, a fifth-degree felony. He allegedly attempted to smuggle methamphetamine into the Washington County Jail in September 2021.

¯ Christopher A. Peyton, 32, of Marietta, was charged with one count of having weapons while disabled, a third degree felony; one count of domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony; and one count of child endangerment, a first-degree misdemeanor. He was reportedly found Aug. 9 on Phillips Street, Marietta, with weapons after being convicted of burglary on Sept. 5, 2003, in Washington County Municipal Court. He also allegedly caused physical injuries to a family member after he was found guilty of domestic violence on August 23, 2013 by the Marietta Municipal Court. 16 weapons were confiscated, including shotguns, revolvers and rifles.

¯ Dusty Ferguson, 34, of 736 Greene St. Apt. 18-year-old Marietta has been charged with one count of aggravated drug possession, a fifth-degree felony. He was reportedly found on December 4 on Greene Street, Marietta, with methamphetamine.

¯ Dana Nigel Harrison, 50, of Belpre, has been charged with one count of domestic violence, a third degree felony. He allegedly caused physical injuries to a family member in July. He had previously been convicted of domestic violence on April 11, 2003, in Clayton County, Georgia, and July 19, 2011, in Bartow County, Georgia.

¯ Rosellen G. Taylor, 55, of 805 Talbot St., Belpre, has been charged with one count of felony assault, a second degree felony. She allegedly attempted to cause physical harm to Bradley Davis using a deadly weapon or dangerous device, namely: a hair dryer, according to the indictment. The incident reportedly happened in June at his home.

¯ Justin Allen Harris, 40, of Newport, has been charged with one count of domestic violence and one count of attempted felony assault, both third-degree felonies. He allegedly tried to seriously injure a family member in July on Dana Road, Newport. He had previously been convicted of five domestic violence offenses: January 2004, October 2004, June 2005 and November 2012 in Marietta City Court, and August 2016 in Washington County Court of Common Pleas.

¯ Thomas Herbert Turner, 68, of 19509 State Route 339, Waterford, was charged with one count of gross sexual imposition, a fourth degree felony and one count of tampering with evidence, a third degree felony. He allegedly had sexual contact with someone who was not his wife in July in Waterford after forcing the person into submission by force or the threat of force.

¯ Todd Daniel Weddle, 53, of 118 Dudley Ave., Marietta, has been charged with one count of disrupting public services, a fourth degree felony.

He allegedly used an electronic device or system to disrupt the functions of a police, fire, educational, business or government operations. The offenses were allegedly committed from April 19 to June 27 at his home.

Possible prison sentences and maximum fines:

¯ First degree crime: 3 to 11 years; $20,000.

¯ Crime in the second degree: from two to eight years; $15,000.

¯ Third degree felony: One to three years; $10,000.

¯ Third degree felony involving a sexual act or violence: one to five years; $10,000.

¯ Fourth degree felony: 6 to 18 months; $5,000.

¯ Fifth degree felony: Six months to one year; $2,500.
